Inconel 718 contains 50-55% nickel, 17-21% chromium, 4.75-5.5% niobium with tantalum, 2.8-3.3% molybdenum, along with smaller amounts of titanium, aluminum, and trace elements. Mechanical properties include tensile strength of about 1240 MPa, yield strength around 1035 MPa, elongation between 12-20%, and hardness of about 331 HB. The alloy achieves strength through precipitation hardening, giving it excellent resistance to creep, fatigue, and stress rupture. With great weldability and resistance to post-weld cracking, Inconel 718 offers stable performance in both cryogenic and high-temperature conditions across demanding industries.
