Grade 310 stainless steel is a high chromium-nickel austenitic alloy. It typically contains 24-26% chromium and 19-22% nickel, with carbon limited to about 0.25%. In 310S, the carbon content is lower, and there are allowances for manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and nitrogen. This alloy excels at resisting oxidation and sulfidation at high temperatures. It maintains strength under long heat exposure, with a 0.2% proof stress of around 205 MPa and ultimate tensile strength near 520 MPa, with elongation of about 40%.
