Stainless Steel 347 is a niobium-stabilized austenitic alloy. It typically contains approximately 17-19% chromium and 9-13% nickel, with carbon up to 0.08%. Niobium is added to prevent chromium carbide formation during welding and high-temperature exposure. This stabilization enhances resistance to intergranular corrosion and allows for higher creep strength. The 347 alloy shows tensile strength around 515 MPa, yield of about 205 MPa, elongation of at least 40%, and good stress rupture properties at high temperatures.
